In partnership with Western Jet Aviation, a Standard Aero company, WIN is dedicated to helping veterans build meaningful civilian careers in Aircraft Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO). Through veteran transition support, veteran job training, tooling, mentorship, coaching, and guidance, WIN helps veterans successfully complete the Western Jet Aviation Academy (WJAA) and move into long-term opportunities in the aviation industry.
The Academy is structured in two phases. Phase one includes a 90-day blend of classroom instruction and hands-on basic training. In phase two, participants work under the guidance of a team lead through an On-the-Job Training (OJT) program. After accumulating approximately 18 months for Airframe or 30 months for both Airframe & Powerplant, candidates can apply for licensure and receive sponsorship to become an aircraft mechanic. Beyond the academy, WIN continues to support and mentor veterans throughout their aviation careers.
This program is more than a training academy or internship. Candidates accepted into the program are employed by WJA/SA and paid $25–$30 per hour based on their background and experience during phases one and two. Upon completion of phase two and obtaining a license as an aircraft mechanic, candidates advance to a Tech I position with a significant pay increase as licensed mechanics employed by WJA/SA.
Through this collaboration with WJA/SA, WIN is committed to supporting veterans in gaining valuable skills and advancing into sustainable careers in the aviation industry. WIN is dedicated to creating real opportunity, long-term career growth, and meaningful pathways for veterans seeking stability, purpose, and success after military service.
